Health Check registered dietitian wins healthy living award

Julie Lau, Program Manager, Health Check BC Dining Program was presented the Speaking of Food and Healthy Living Award for BC  region at the Dietitians of Canada 2009 Awards Ceremony in Charlottetown in June 2009. This annual program is a collaboration between Dietitians of Canada and Kraft Canada, celebrating communication initiatives that positively influence consumer eating habits and physical activity involvement. The Health Check BC Dining Program is innovative in several ways. It is the only healthy dining program program that requires restaurants to meet and maintain strict nutritional standards, it includes items for children, and it the healthy eating messages are delivered collaboratively to the public through the government, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, and the private sector.
