Joanna Weinfeld

Hi, my name is Joanna. As a dietitian, I try to promote that eating healthy doesn't mean eliminating all the foods that you love!

Growing up in Montreal, I have enjoyed the opportunity to sample and savour foods from many cultures. Now I love to experiment in the kitchen making delicious and nutritious meals for myself, my family and friends.

Before joining the Heart and Stroke Foundation, I studied at the University of Western Ontario where I obtained an Honours Bachelor of Science degree with specialization in Nutrition and Dietetics. I then completed the dietetic internship program at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto, where I applied my knowledge and skills in many areas of nutrition including clinical, community, foodservices and health promotion settings. I have worked in hospitals and rehabilitation centers including the Montreal Jewish General Hospital and Constance Lethbridge Rehabilitation Centre. My experience in health promotion includes volunteering for Go Girls, a program that promotes healthy eating and lifestyles for adolescent girls.

I am very excited to be part of the Health Check team where I am responsible for retail product nutrient criteria review and marketing and advertising review. I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with food companies to ensure that more healthy choices are available on the market.
