Health Check Can Help - Vegetables & Fruit

All fresh vegetables and fruit are healthy choices.  When purchasing prepackaged vegetables and fruit, look for the Health Check symbol and review the Nutrition Facts table on the package. Health Check vegetable and fruit products must meet specific nutrient criteria.

For example:

  • Health Check fruit juices must be pure juice and vegetable juices are evaluated for vitamin A and/or folate and sodium.
  • Health Check plain canned vegetables are evaluated for sodium and seasoned or sauced choices for sodium and fat.
  • Health Check canned fruit must be packed in light syrup or fruit juice; and dried fruit snacks cannot have added sugar.
  • All fresh fruit and vegetables are eligible for Health Check.
