Health Check Can Help - Grain Products

Grain products like breads, cereals, pasta, crackers and flours provide important nutrients such as B vitamins, iron and zinc.  But many can be higher in fat, salt or sugar. When purchasing packaged grain products look for Health Check products because:

  • Health Check breads are a source of fibre, low in fat and lower in sodium.
  • Health Check cold cereals are at least a source of fibre, are low in fat and lower in sugar.
  • Health Check pastas are enriched* or whole grain.

* The Food Guide recommends at least half of our grain products be whole grain. While whole grains offer additional benefits, white rice and white pasta are acceptable alternatives for some of our grain choices provided they are enriched.
