Changing the Food Supply

Health Check helps Canadians make healthy food choices in grocery stores and restaurants and it also encourages food manufacturers and restaurants to offer more healthy food options.

As a result of stronger nutrient criteria, such as reductions in sodium and fat, many food companies and restaurants are either currently working on reduing the amount of salt and/or fat in their food products and menu items or have already done so.

Health Check is the only neutral, third-party, not-for-profit food information program in the country, working directly with industry in an arm's length relationship to improve the Canadian food supply.
