Catherine Lefebvre, RD, Nutritionist

I am passionate about food, where it comes from and how it looks, and I truly believe it is possible to effectively convey the message about healthy eating if you use the right strategy and method of communication.

I am a foodie: the way I see it, eating should be pleasurable. I am also a globetrotter at heart, and I love learning about other cultures through their culinary background. My experiences with food during my travels have helped me gain insight into the obstacles that we as a society face when it comes to our dietary habits, and the simplicity of healthy eating.
I mostly work in communications, spreading the word about the latest scientific findings related to food, or providing the public with tools to improve their health. This was the goal of my book, Les carnivores infidèles. I wanted to offer healthy vegetarian recipes from people who weren't necessarily full-time vegetarians, but who had decided to go meatless a few times a week to reduce their risk of heart disease.

My role in the Health Check program is to help consumers make better food choices, and to encourage them to try cooking more often with family and friends, because a good meal tastes even better when it's shared.
